The city of Shandi (or Shendi) (with a population of 55,000) lies 170 km northeast of Khartoum, it lies on the eastern bank of the nile. It is connected to Khartoum via railway and roads. It is the capital of Shandi Province, which includes many known localities such as Hajjar al-Asal (en: Honeystone) which is considered the southern gateway to Shandi province and Nile River State. Lots of civilizations rose near to Shandi, like the Meroe, and there are many archeological sites in the nearby areas. Shandi is considered one of the agricultural cities as it contains the largest area for mango farming, it is also known for producing onions, peas and a variety of fruits. It contains the University of Shandi and many other institutions. Many agricultural projects such as AlKaboushiya and Qandtu projects are being implemented on lands of the nearby town of Deim ElGerrai.

Thank you for the useful information about the city of Shendi. But Qandtu has nothing to do with Deim ElGerrai in terms of location because Qandtu is located south of Shendi and Deim ElGerrai is located north of Shendi. Just a correction!
